TURF MANAGER

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experience turf grower to join us, overseeing the growing operation on our 136-acre site in Paisley.

As a key figure in the Peacock Turfscape you will be managing a team and be actively involved in all aspects of turf production. We are looking for someone who will be able to manage our existing fields and provide a comprehensive maintenance programme to take each field from tillage to harvest, producing excellent quality turf.

Responsibilities
• Plan, oversee and be actively involved in turf production.
• Operate all machinery required for turf production including, but not limited to, tractors, mowers, hoovers, sprayers, aerators, spreaders and harvesters.
• Field preparation tasks – plough, cultivate, stone bury, roll, germinate, seed, fertilise.
• Conduct maintenance tasks on harvesting equipment to increase longevity and ensure all machinery is fit for purpose. This includes changing harvester blades, regular greasing of equipment, checking calibration, etc.
• Conduct regular inspections of fields, monitoring plant health, including disease and pests.
• Implement turf maintenance for strong root growth with no weeds.
• Manage a team of production operators to assist with the overall strategy.
• Maintain records of all activities relating to the harvest cycle.
• Recommend and implement new lawn care practices where applicable.
• Experience in a similar role in culturing and maintaining turf is ideal.
