RUMINANT NUTRITIONIST

£38,287 - £44,783 per annum

SRUC is enhancing and building its consultancy offering in the ruminant livestock sector and is offering a fantastic opportunity for a ruminant nutritionist to join the livestock team. The role will be vastly varied and will include tasks such as, delivering knowledge exchange through 1-1 consultancy, finding practical nutritional solutions on farm, speaking at meetings, newsletter writing, podcasts/videos and tendering for funding and carrying out project work.

For this role, you must have strong ruminant nutrition knowledge, including the use of ruminant nutritional formulation software for cattle and sheep and have experience of consultancy. In addition, we require you to have consultancy experience and a good wider understanding of the industry. As part of the role, you will be responsible for delivering independent, impartial advice to producers and supporting staff in our local offices, as well as furthering their nutritional knowledge, by running CPD courses. An excellent network of contacts within the feed industry would be advantageous.

A nutritional qualification e.g. Diploma or MSc in ruminant or animal nutrition or a degree in a scientific discipline related to agriculture, animal science or biological science is essential for this position, as well as a full driving licence.
