HEAD SHEPHERD

Remony Estate is now hiring.

We are looking for a forward thinking head shepherd to join the team. The successful applicant will be knowledgeable in flock grazing management and have extensive experience of managing a hill flock. Previous staff management experience is preferred and the role comes with a number of benefits including a good size 2/3 bed house, clothing allowance, personal pack sheep and others.

We currently run 1650 black face Ewes, sell our best shearlings at Stirling, Lanark and Dalmally and keep our own replacement Ewe Hoggs. We are currently reducing our breeding flock down to 1200 so that we can look at soil management and other breeds of sheep. We are still going to keep the blackies on the hill but may look elsewhere for the 1500 inbye acres. We also run 35 cows and are slowly expanding that up to 60. We are looking for someone to take the lead and advise us on breeds of sheep and help us move forward before expanding the numbers back up to an appropriate quantity for the ground using efficient grass management techniques.
