HEAD SHEPHERD

Linhope Estate is seeking to recruit an experienced head shepherd to oversee the management of its farming interests, which extend to approximately 4,025 hectares in the Cheviot Hills.

The diverse estate encompasses a variety of enterprises, at the heart of which are 1,200 Blackface ewes and 1,000 pedigree and commercial Cheviot ewes, plus replacements.

This is an exciting opportunity for a leading candidate to take the Estate forward and achieve its broader objectives, while working alongside an assistant shepherd to manage/steer the flock through future industry challenges.

Applicants must be self-motivated, reliable, and skilled, with a good knowledge of hill and inbye husbandry. A passion for livestock and an interest in how farming can complement wider conservation management are essential.

Working dogs and a driving license are required. A competitive salary and conditions, including accommodation, will be offered with the role.
