In particular, Mr Gray recognised the young breeders of the club who he said had again excelled at various events up and down the country.
Brian Weatherup of Lesmay Holsteins judged the Herds Competition which saw good entries in both numbers and quality, spread across the whole country, making for some tough decision making.
Winning on inspection was the Boclair herd of David and John Brewster, Bearsden, who went forward to represent the club in the Holstein UK Premier Herd Competition. The brothers also topped the evening by winning the combined Milk Records and Inspection Trophy, Progeny Group, Heifer Group and The Glasgow Dairy Cup for most points gained in the competition.
Other winners on the night saw Bryce and Robert Sloan of Darnlaw, land both the Exhibitor Bred Cow and Heifer honours with Townlaw All Class Missy and Townlaw Rapid Dellia, respectively. The award for the Best Bought in Animal went to Clydeview Sidekick Matilda from Robbie and Margo Scott and Salvador Esquirdo.
Winner of the HYB Senior Member of the Year for 2024 was Adam Smith, and Junior Member of the Year was Calum Gray.
The Club also announced the winner of its newest competition – The Harrison and Hetherington Scottish Young Star Award. It has been contested throughout the year in areas of showmanship and stockjudging at specific events and shows throughout Scotland. The winner was Rory Scott from Shacklehill.
