Ayrshire-based, Alvean and Heather Kerr, Sauchrie Mains, Maybole, continued their winning streak amongst the Highland ponies at Livescot winning both the champion and reserve honours.

Their winning entry from the Tower Stud was the home-bred yearling filly, Tower White Lilly. A daughter of Eran of Croila, she is out of Tower Katie Morag, and was her first outing.

The blue and white ribbons went to another of Tower’s home-bred yearlings, also on his show debut. This was the gelding, Tower Thor, sired by Strathmore Clova, out of Tower Emma.

Leading the section was the home-bred yearling filly, Abbotsrule Snowdrop. A daughter of Achramore Bravado and out of Heidrun AV Bergli, Snowdrop was rounding off a successful year having stood youngstock standard champion at the Royal Highland and reserve overall Shetland at the National Stallion show.

Reserve went to the 14-year-old mare, Vindon Kelpie, which was bought at the Shetland pony sale on Shetland in October. She is sired by Wells Tyrell and out of Yarpha Kaynine.

Shetland pony champion came from John Watson of the Abbotsrule studShetland pony champion came from John Watson of the Abbotsrule stud Andy Thornley, Craigellachie, Moray, topped the miniatures with Alichbrae Brono. A five-year-old stallion sired by Kerswell Merlot, he is out of Buxted Beaujoulais.

Runner-up was Enigma Sage from the Dornoch-based Lochfleet team. A two-year-old colt, Sage is by Kerswell Rebel and bred from Enigma Salome. He was purchased in October 2023 at Worcester as a yearling from Christine Gray. His only other outing was Keith Show where he was crowned miniature champion.

It was also a successful show for the youngest member of the Lochfleet team when eight-year-old Logan Ogilvie, won the champion young handler.
