The VG88 second calver, by Farnear Delta Lambda, was bought as a heifer last summer from David and John Brewster, having stood reserve champion at Lesmahagow and Carnwath shows earlier this year.

The same home bagged the honourable mention award with their heifer Willsbro Lambda Frosty 4244 by the same sire. She if out of the VG87 classified dam Willsbro Sidekick Frosty.

The judge, David Wright, Berryholme, Kendal, said it was a pleasure to judge stock of such a high standard.

As he brought his six first and second-placed cows into the ring for the championship judging, he said: “Three outstanding classes of animals.

“I have two beautiful heifers, two well-balanced second calvers, and a pair of mature cows showing strength and power.”

He gave the reserve tap to Overside Hartley Dellia from Hugh and Andrew Neilson, East Brackenridge, Strathaven. This Ex93 fourth calver is 280 days calved and is projected over 20,000 litres in her 305-day lactation.

Sired by De Su Hartely, she is out of Overside Truth Dellia, and was inter-breed at Strathaven Show the last two years.
