Perth Foal Show staged at Netherton Equestrian Centre, saw 45 entries forward for international judge Glen Smith from Ontario.
His overall in-hand champion was the two-year-old filly Cloghan Iona from Paul and Matthew Bedford, Yorkshire. Bred in Ireland by George Smyth, she is sired by Eskechraggan Ernest and out of Cloghan Princess. She was champion heavy horse at the North West and Wales Foal Show.
Ian Johnston from Falkirk took the reserve honours with his foal champion Roughlands Graceful Lady. The home-bred senior filly shown by daughter Alana, is sired by Collessie Monarch and out of the Cawdor Cup-winning mare Roughlands Majestic Lady. She was on her second outing having stood second at North of Fife Foal Show.
Lutterington Butterfly, from Harry Emerson, Co Durham, took the reserve senior award. The six-year old mare has had a great season both in hand and under saddle, having qualified for HOYS and winning the ridden section at North of Fife. Produced by the team at Collessie, she is sired by Collessie New Approach and out of Coachmills Lady Helen.
Best colt and reserve foal was Swede Christer Paulsson’s senior, Herkules Ace Card, produced by the Black family at Collessie. A son of Arradoul Balvenie out of Redcastle Maple, he was reserve foal at Lanark and won the senior colts at North of Fife.
Perthshire's Alastair Mattheson swopped the reins for his judging hat to select the ridden winners. He found his supreme in the open section in Ashley Douglas, Perthshire, riding Freezlund Mr Elliott. Bred by John and Margo McIntyre, Ayrshire this gelding is sired by Redcastle Brelee Majestic and out of Aird Felina. He stood second at Fife Show in May.
The novice section was won by Am Blar Mhor Bombardier from Rachael Stewart, Insch. Ridden by Chloe Hunter this gelding won the ridden section at Aberdeen Clydesdale Show earlier this year. He is sired by Great American GW Carver and out of Arradoul Rhapsody.
Winning the novice rider section was 16-year-old Blythe Duncan, Fife, riding Julie and Lindsay Martin’s Guildy Braveheart.
The single cart class was won by Annette and Ailsa Noble, Penicuik with their three-year-old gelding Tulloes Monte Carlo and the Shire Horse Society young driver accumulator class was topped by Kate Fairbairn, Northumberland, with her family's gelding, Cumeragh House Dennis.
