It was a day for the males at the North West Simmental Club Youngstock Show staged in association with breed society, when bulls secured the top tickets.

Supreme went to the senior champion, Denizes Phantom 23 from Michael and John Barlow of the Denizes herd, Lancs. Their yearling bull is sired by the 14,000gns Saltire Impressive, and is the first male calf bred from Denizes Trixie Belle 8.

The junior champion from the same home was the January-born bull calf, Denizes Rolls Royce 24. By the same sire as the champion, he is bred from Denizes Fancy Therese, and will be for sale in May at Carlisle.

It was worth the trip down from Aberlour for Delfur Farms too, when their April 2023-born bull, Delfur Phantom 23, took the reserve senior and reserve overall. Brought out by Garry Patterson, Phantom is sired by Innerwick Ivor, which was bought at Stirling for 10,000gns, and is out of Delfur Hetty. Previously unshown, he is destined for Stirling Bull Sales in February.

Paul Mcdonald of the Coolcran herd found his reserve junior champion in the February-born bull calf, Grangewood Robert The Bruce from Andrew and Yvonne Leedham and son, Callum, Rowan Farm, North Yorkshire. On his first outing this bull is sired by the 8500gns Stirling purchase, Ranfurly Impeccable, and bred from Grangewood Gretal’s Lyla.
