More than 20 Clydesdales were forward for Lanark Foal Show, staged at Lanark Auction Mart, where Ronnie Black's senior filly, Collessie Princess was crowned supreme.
The foal, from Ladybank, Fife, is sired by Collessie Monarch, out of Collessie Kirsty and was the pick of Newton Stewart-based judge Ian Douglas. Princess boasts a successful summer show season having stood first at Fife, West Fife, Perth and Kinross Shows and reserve at Area 12 and foal champion at Aberdeen in August.
Reserve was the senior champion, Greenknowes First Ambition from Annette and Ailsa Noble from Penicuik. Their two-year-old gelding stood male champion at Strathaven Show on his sole previous outing this year. Bred by James Patterson and Sheena Gray, Glendevon, he is sired by Doura Aird Ambition and out of Macfin First Lady.
Best colt foal and reserve foal champion was the senior winner, Herkules Ace Card, from Christer Paulsson Sweden. He is sired by Arradoul Balvenie, out of Redcastle Maple and was produced by the Black family from Collessie.
Reserve senior was Littleward Katy from Mattew Carrick. This two-year-old filly is by Collessie Monarch and out of Littleward Venus. She stood champion at Ayr Show and reserve at last week's Kilmarnock Foal Show.
Fairybank Barbie was reserve filly foal for William and Janice Dunbar, Motherwell. Previously unshown, she is out of Doura Ballerina and sired by Doura Magic Touch.
Tom Clark, Perth took the reserve colt foal award with the junior Muirton Successor. Reserve colt foal at Kilmarnock Foal Show, he is sired by Muirton Sabre and out of Macfin Diamond Queen.
