Lanarkshire Limousin breeders Ian and Andrew Nimmo, Bogside, concluded a successful show season by winning the overall championship for a third consecutive year at Strathaven Show this time with the heifer, Maraiscote Urprincess.

Their 16-month-old is a daughter of Morhan Peter and out of Maraiscote Nellie. Junior inter-breed and reserve breed champion at the Great Yorkshire; reserve junior at the Highland, she most recently won the supreme overall at Peebles after winning the Limousin Grand Prix championship.

Champion of champions judge, Jim Clark, said: “She is a very correct and balanced heifer, evenly fleshed and showcases plenty of breed character.”

Robert Struthers, Collielaw, was tasked with judging the inter-breed beef, dairy and sheep competitions.

He found his supreme dairy in the previously unshown, two-year-old Holstein, Overside Ryder Peach, a two-year-old heifer in milk from Hugh and Andrew Neilson, East Brackenridge, Strathaven.

The Beltex champion, Mid Shawtonhill Jane, from Jim Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill, Chapelton. This gimmer is sired by the 9000gns Clary Fly-Boy and bred from Shawtonhill Dottie.

Ayrshire (Judge: R Scott). Champion – DM Lindsay, Harperfield, Lanark, with Mid Ascog Patricia 3 Ex90, a third calver that has given 10,000litres. She is sired by Bruchag Starman and out of Mid Ascog Patricia 2. Reserve was Middle Lovely MB VG85, owned by S Lindsay. She calved her third, three weeks ago and is giving 7000litre. Bred by the Whiteford Family, Middle, she is sired by Middle Bolt and out of Middle Lovely Be Ex90. Heifer in milk – National Museum of Rural Life. Cow in milk, production inspection, pair, bred – DM Lindsay.

Holstein (Judge: R Scott). Champion and inter-breed dairy – H and A Neilson, East Brackenridge, Strathaven, with Overside Ryder Peach VG86, a two-year-old heifer in milk giving 42litres per day, having calved in June. She is sired by Koepon Oh Ryder Red and out of Overside Dealmaker Peach. Reserve from the same home was Overside Hartley Dellia Ex90, a fourth calver giving 62litres per day having calved in February. Champion here last year, she is projected at 20,000litres. Sired by De-Su Hartley, she is out of Overside Pety Dellia. All classes – H and A Neilson.

British Blue (Judge: I McInnes). Champion – B and S Comrie, Stonebyres Mains, Lanark, with the 21-month-old heifer Stonebyres Sassy, a daughter of Kersey Geronimo, out of Stonebyres Olivia. Champion at Stirling. Reserve from the same home was the 18-month-old bull, Stonebyres Titan, by Stonebyres Ninja and bred by Stonebyres Oceana. Bull, cow, heifer – B and S Comrie.

Simmental (Judge: I McInnes). Champion – D Craig, Kennox, with Kennox Frankies Polly, an 18-month-old heifer, sired by Ranfurly Confederate, out of Kennox Tara’s Frankie. Champion at Ayr, Stewarton, and first at Fenwick. Reserve – JE Dyet, East Merkalnd, Strathaven, with Merkland Tooty 3, a two-year-old heifer due to calve in November. Sorrento was also awarded the Clydesdale Lanarkshire Cup in its reinstatement year, given for accumulating the most points regionally throughout the show season.
