It was a successful day for the Wyllie family – Morris and Janet, son Andrew and his wife Georgina – of Skeldon Drive on home turf at Dalrymple, when their cow and calf duo took the supreme champion of champions award.

Taking the overall was Marydoll, a Limousin cross cow paraded with her third calf, a January-born British Blue cross heifer calf at foot. Marydoll is by Huntershall Gladiator while her calf is by Brennand Panther. This big win adds to their earlier celebrations with the birth of Andrew and Georgina’s son, Kerr.

David Bryson of Grassmillees Way, Mauchline, landed the reserve overall with his inter-breed sheep champion, a Bluefaced Leicester gimmer. Catching the eye of judge Andrew MacLean, was a daughter of a £1600 Moscow tup, out of a home-bred ewe. She was first in her class at both Dalry and Newmilns Shows this year,.

Strong competition in the sheep lines, saw the reserve honours presented to John Guild’s champion Scotch Mule, a gimmer from Laight Farm, New Cumnock. Bred by the Walkers from The Tower and purchased privately last year, she took championship rosettes at Ayr and New Cumnock this year.
