A rare dry weekend saw Wilson Peters’ Limousin heifer, CC Cindy, continue her winning streak to win the inter-breed beef championship.

His winner, a 22-month-old from Cuilt Farmhouse, Monzie, Crieff, was described by inter-breed judge Kay Adam as: “A heifer that just oozes character, with a good width and well-defined ribs.”

Cindy has already had a successful show season, taking the supreme overall at Dunblane and Alyth, reserve inter-breed beef at West Fife and Angus, and section champion at Fife. She is sired by the stock bull Carmorn Lionbar and out of a British Blue cow.

In the sheep section, the three-shear Beltex, Hackney Gladiator from Brian Wylie, Balbrydie, secured the supreme honours. Bred by Paul and Christine Tippetts, Shropshire, he is sired by Lakeview Doozer and out of Hackney Cancan. He was bought at the breed sale in Carlisle in 2022 after taking male champion at the Royal Highland Show the same year.

A new Centenary Trophy for the show was presented to the supreme horse which was won by young Ariana Nicol who took the award for her working hunter Springwater Music Master.

This year also marked the first time in the show’s 147-year history that an all-female judging line-up was implemented.

Chairman Shona Grant described the show as: “A great success! It has been so busy today and it stayed dry for us. The decision to have all women judges has really got people talking,” she said.
