Shetland ponies, like their larger Highland counterparts, made a welcome return to the show ring at LiveScot following a one-year absence, with a bigger and better entry of both standard and miniatures.
Topping the standard entry was Michael and Joy Barugh's Birchmoor Simone, North Aldbrough, which was back to claim the tri-colour following her breed win here in 2021. This five-year-old by Birchmoor Viceroy, out of Raeburn Spiggy is also a former champion at the North of England and junior champion at Cheshire, Staffordshire, and Royal Lancs Shows.

John and Brenda Laing's Eynhallow Prism, a three-year-old stallion from the stud which is based at Eynhallow, Weston, secured the reserve. Champion at the Central Scotland pony show at Perth, he is by Harviestoon Drum which was bought as a two-year-old and bred from the show pony, Eynhallow Linny.
A strong line-up of miniatures was led by the veteran champion winner, Kerswell Merlot from Kirsty McKay's Alichbrae Shetland Pony Stud, West Craigvannie, Comrie. Her 12-year-old stallion which was bought as a six-month-old foal from Devon, boasts numerous champion awards including Dunblane in July and last year's Braco Show. His pedigree features Kerswell Morse and the mare, Kerswell Moonlight.

Kerswell genetics were also behind the reserve foal and reserve supreme from Lisa Wilson, Rosebyres, Leys of Muckhart. Her home-bred best, Breckenlea Saphina, is chestnut filly bred from Gott Surrey and sired by Kerswell Bonanza.
