Baking, embroidery, preserve and stick making may appear to be dying arts but there was plenty of competition at Abington Show on Saturday which made for a fantastic industrial section.
In all, the event attracted no fewer than 68 competitors who were all vying for the top awards in just shy of 75 sections.
Mrs Elizabeth Warnock, Sandilands won two of the lead trophies for the most outstanding exhibits in the baking and preserves and savouries sections for a buttered cream sponge and tablet, respectively.
Virginia Bennett, Roberton, also had a good day winning another two outstanding exhibit trophies in the handicraft and horticulture sections.
The overall points trophy was presented to Jan MacLarty, Glespin, who won several sections in the horticulture and baking sections, with son Alan taking several red tickets amongst the vegetables.
A large section of sticks, to include fancy and plain hornheaded entries, thumb sticks and leg cleeks, was topped by a fancy wood head entry from Barry Frizell, Wigton. It was crafted from a laburnum wood.
