Dairy entries for this year’s Ayr County Show, are well up on the year, with some 80 stalls booked to date – 30 more than this time last year with more expected.

Beef cattle entries total 95 of which 30 are of commercial cattle, with 17 Clydesdale horses and four stud carts booked to attend.

Sheep entries are also up at 333, with the largest section – any other continental breed – attracting 51 head, with Suffolks coming next in line with 40.

Other breeds include Charollais sheep (18); Beltex (32); Border Leicester (seven); Texel (31); Zwartbles (31); Bluefaced Leicester crossing type (22), traditinal (seven); Blue Texel(27); Hampshire Down (16); any other native breed (12); Blackface (four); Ryeland (32); commercial (three).
