McDonald’s is growing worried about its potato supply, essential for their famous McFries. Extreme weather is disrupting the potato industry, making reliable harvests increasingly uncertain. A new initiative to export pasteurised milk to Africa is gaining momentum. The Scottish Dairy Growth Board plans to export £150m worth of fresh, locally produced milk by 2030, aiming to boost the national dairy industry’s presence in global markets.
Meanwhile, in the US, the first recorded case of avian influenza (bird flu) in a pig has been confirmed. The USDA identified the infection on a small farm in Oregon where livestock shared space, water, and equipment—conditions that allowed the virus to jump between species.
