Ruby Stewart, aged 15, joined as a junior member in October 2023 and is a fourth generation family member in Strathmore JAC.
Q: What inspired you to join Strathmore JAC, especially given your family’s legacy with the club?
A: I always wanted to join Strathmore JAC and seeing as generations in my family before me got so much out of the club, I knew that I would too.
Q: How do you see your involvement in Strathmore JAC shaping your future in agriculture?
A: I can see my participation help me socially, improve my confidence, and give me something to feel a part of.
Q: What have been your favourite activities or events so far, and how have they helped you grow as a young farmer?
A: The annual Angus Tayside Netball Competition was a great social event to meet new people from other clubs.
Q: In what ways do you feel the club supports the development of young members like yourself?
A: The older members of Strathmore have a huge positive impact on juniors; always encouraging, offering lifts, and making sure we are up to date with events.
Q: If you could plan a dream trip for club members to learn about farming in another country, where would you go and what would you hope to learn?
A: America would be my dream trip to see how they work on a cattle ranch and how they use horses in everyday life.
