The interbreed Super Heifer title went to the jointly owned heifer – Boclair Lambda Hope 18 – from David and John Brewster, Boclair and Ian Smith and sons, Greentowers. The reserve title went to Brian and Michael Yates, East Logan, Castle Douglas with Logan Latenite Shania Red.
As the judge tapped out his super heifer, he described this three-year-old as perfectly balanced, clean and oozing dairyness and strength.
He said this heifer had the edge over the reserve with its hard top, strong loins and openness of rib.
The heifer calved at one year, ten months at Boclair, near Glasgow before the Smith family bought a half share in her last January and she moved to the milking herd at Greentowers. Both enterprises milk 200 cows through Lely robots.
This heifer - classified maximum VG88 points – is no stranger to the red, white and blue rosette, having won the heifer National Holstein Show at Dairy Day in September and the reserve Holstein champion title at the Royal Highland show in June.
This Farnear Delta Lambda daughter is still producing 38 litres daily, and is due to go dry in a fortnight.
The reserve title went to father and son duo, Brian and Michael Yates, from Castle Douglas with their home bred red and white Holstein heifer, Logan Latenite Shania Red. The judge described this VG87 classified heifer as silky, stylish, open-ribbed and with an excellent mammary system. He also praised the height and width of her rear udder.
Currently giving 30 litres, this heifer, by Avant Garde-I Latenite, has never been beaten this year. She was supreme interbreed Red and White heifer at UK Dairy Day, Champion at Castle Douglas night show a fortnight ago and champion red and white at the Royal Highland.
The reserve champion Holstein came from John Kennedy and Son, Perryston, Ayr. Clydeview Fuel Esmerelda was sired by Melarry Fuel.

She was on her second outing having been crowned Champion heifer at the West of Scotland night show last month.

The reserve Ayrshire – Marleycote Mary Rose 8 – was shown by GG Baines and Son, Marley Cote Walls, near Hexham. This unclassified heifer is sired by Troutbeck Progress.
The supreme Jersey heifer belonged to S and S Murray, Shipley Bank, Wolverhampton. The judge said she may not be the biggest, but she was stylish, and had an unbelievably snug udder which was ‘welded on’.
There was further success for Robbie and Margo Scott when they lifted the reserve title with Nethervalley Oliver Regina VG86. She is sired by Dutch Hollow Oliver.
The champion heifer in any other breed was the Brown Swiss, Kedar Aldo Snogging from Jack Wilson, Ormside Lodge, Appleby. This was just her second outing having been reserve at Dairy Day.
She was bought from Kedar Holsteins and is giving 25 litres a day. Her maternal lineage goes back to Snickerdoodle who won Maddison show seven times.
