Wales’ only independent conference on sustainable food and farming is back on November 20-22 at the University of Wales Trinity St David, Lampeter campus.
The sixth conference takes the theme ‘More Food – More Farmers – More Nature – More Resilience’.
The Wales Real Food and Farming Conference invites farmers, growers, bakers, cooks and food educators, to have their say, to share with other experts in sustainable systems, and to network with representatives from the wider food sector across Wales.
This year’s conference offers a diverse array of panel debates, talks and workshops all packed into two days, with local farm visits on the third day.
Sessions include 'How can we best achieve food resilience in Wales?', 'Training for new entrants - what’s out there and what’s missing?', 'Food procurement for good', 'The benefits of social prescribing for farmers', 'Improving the performance of agroecological horticulture in Wales' and rather intriguingly, a chance to contribute to the writing of 'Food - The Musical'!
Derek Walker, Wales’ second ever Future Generations Commissioner, opening the Conference. Derek’s role is to protect and promote the needs of future generations, and focusing on the importance of food for wellbeing.
The conference also welcomes Denise Bentley, co-founder and CEO of First Love Foundation, a charity at the frontline of poverty and social injustice in Tower Hamlets, which having started as a foodbank, is now pioneering facilitating access to affordable fresh food in other ways, providing healthy long-term solutions.
Tickets can be booked at tickettailor.com/events/wrffc/1255959, with attendees encouraged to purchase a supporter ticket if you are able to. Further information on the conference is available from wrffc.wales/cynhadledd-2024-conference/
