Liberal Democrat MP for north-east Fife, Wendy Chamberlain has thrown herself behind the plight of Scottish agriculture, in the wake of the Labour Government's budget announcements.
She told The Scottish Farmer today (November 14): “I’m delighted to support The Scottish Farmer’s campaign.
“I met with NFUS mid-Scotland and Fife farmers last Friday and they were very clear about how strongly they feel about the APR changes and the impact it will have on them, the future of their family farms, and on food security which is critical to all of us.
“One of the key issues is the fact that the new Labour government stood at the NFU conference last year and said that they wouldn’t make changes to APR.
“Its not just about the changes, its about the broken promise that farmers feel so strongly about.
“As Liberal Democrats, we are absolutely behind farmers in relation to encouraging the government to U-turn on their decision.”
