Residents of one County Durham housing estate were left surprised and shocked when they woke up to find a loose sheep wandering about the road.

One sheep was having a bit of a baa-d Sunday when it escaped from its pen and ended up wandering along Bamburgh Drive in Seaham yesterday morning (November 3).

Locals woke up to find the lost sheep in their gardens, which is believed to have entered the estate after escaping from a small holding.

Residents managed to corner the woollen runaway and swiftly asked social media to help locate the sheep's owner.

Luckily, its owner came along and collected the sheep which is now safe and sound back with its flock.

One resident said: “I had to do a double take when I opened the blinds. It was just staring at me.

“Everyone in the street was out. It was hilarious. Thankfully it was rounded up and didn’t seem too concerned."
