Texels led Caledonian Marts' sale of store lambs at £109 for P Will, Valhalla.

On Monday, a pair of Limousin heifers from W Walker and Sons, Camregan, Girvan, led the store cattle trade at 415p per kg and £2020, to cash in at 285.46p.

Bullocks averaged 293.43p and sold to 365.5p for Charolais from R Wainwright, Claid, Isle of Coll, and to £1850 for a Limousin from Hume of Overton, Denny.

Bullocks (1078) and heifers (782) averaged 290.82p per kg and 279.17p respectively at United Auctions' store cattle sale.

Bullocks sold to 355.80p for a 416kg Limousin cross from Cairnhouse, and to £2040 for a 719kg Charolais cross from Elmscleugh.

A 431kg Charolais cross from Craighead, topped the heifers at 329.50p, whilst a 668kg Beef Shorthorn cross realised £1780 for Cowford.

Simmental crosses from Nettlingflat led the young bulls (8) at 272.60p for a 576kg entry and to £1570 for a 576kg animal, to level at 202.01p.

The firm held a special sale of dairy young stock on behalf of the Murray family, High Langmuir, Kilmaurs, which reached £1540 on two occasions for two pens of heifers.

Also forward were 104 rearing cattle which peaked at £950 for a Charolais cross bullock from Messrs Harrower, Craigivern.

The pre-sale champion, a 305kg Limousin cross from Billy Kellas, Burnside Croft, Jamestown, achieved 721.3p per kg and £2200 at Dingwall and Highland Marts' sale of 948 weaned calves, when selling to the judge, Fergus Forbes, Little Kildrummie.

Heifers (393) cashed in at 324p and bullocks (538) levelled at 337.0p.

Bullocks topped at 603.2p and £1900 for a 315kg Limousin cross from Easter Templand, Fortrose.

Aberdeen Angus crosses topped the young bulls (17) at 275.9p for Drynie, Dingwall, and to £1080 for Culrain Mains, Ardgay.

On the sheep front, 4802 store lambs cashed in at £77.85 having sold to £140 for a Texel cross from Wester Ardroy, Balachraggan.

A Texel ram lamb from Wester Moy Texels, Urray, made £340, whilst a Texel cross ewe from Teanluick, Beauly, realised £66.

Bullocks led the proceedings at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' sale of store cattle having sold to 389p per kg for a 410kg Charolais cross from Belnoe, Chapeltown, and to £1970 for a 714kg Beef Shorthorn cross from Nether Tulloch, Oldmeldrum.

Bullocks (441) averaged 313.8p.

Limousin crosses led the heifers (346) at 377.8p for a 450kg entry from Howequoy, St Marys, and to £1950 for a pair weighing 668kg from Newton of Auchindoir, Rhynie, to average 296.7p.

Bulls (12) averaged 261.3p and sold to 281.9p for a 454kg Charolais cross from Redland, Firth and to £1600 for a 620kg Limousin cross from Langadale.

On Tuesday, the firm sold a Texel two shear ram for £520 from Strathfern, Overbrae.

Breeding sheep (476) levelled at £138.42 having reached £235 for Mule gimmers had lambs from Tollo Farm, Fortrie.

Texels from Gilrivie Cottage, Montrose, topped the 1694 store lambs at £130, which balanced out at £82.76.

Mules from Mains of Glenbuchat, Strathdon, led the ewe lambs (111) at £155 having cashed in at £105.38.

A 264kg Limousin cross from Jean Mackay, Harelaw/Auchenairney, achieved the top price of £2600 and 984.8p per kg at Lawrie and Symington's sale of 408 spring born suckled calves.

A 352kg Limousin cross from High Crewburn, led the bullocks at £1780 and 564.5p.

Overall, 237 bullocks sold to average 353.44p and 171 heifers levelled at 345.9p.

The judge, Mr Anderson Waddell, Hermiston, purchased his choice of champion and reserve among the pre-sale show. Supreme was a 310kg Limousin cross bullock from High Crewburn, which later made £1750, whilst runner up was a 344kg Limousin cross heifer from Sunnyside/Carbello, which reached £2150.

Rouge cross Suffolk gimmers from Haughhead, secured £255 at the firm's sale of 872 breeding sheep.

The weekly sale of 2776 store lambs reached £125 for Texels from Sherridan, Wester Place, having cashed in at £70.90.
