KUHN Farm Machinery has redesigned its mid-range Olympic plough points, with a claimed increase in longevity of 30%.

This improvement helps users of genuine KUHN parts extend the service life of their wearing metal. The second-generation Olympic point is now standard on all KUHN ploughs, from the smallest master 113 to the largest challenger models.

With added thickness at the top of the point to improve durability, the design also features a bevelled shape for better soil penetration. An accentuated design ensures even wear and lowers tractor power consumption. The central section is also protected, making bolt changes easier and reducing maintenance.

Edd Fanshawe, KUHN’s arable and connected services product specialist, said: “The new olympic point retains similar dimensions to the previous version but offers an increased lifespan of 30% at a recommended retail price increase of just 6%. This means users will be benefiting from a more cost-effective option, increased longevity, and less downtime during the season by using genuine KUHN parts.”

Additionally, a new optional durakarb point offers four times the longevity of the updated olympic points. These points use tungsten carbide inserts for better impact resistance and employ a patented brazing and heat treatment process.

Edd added: “The working surface of the point is 100% carbide, using brazed insert technology rather than adding the carbide on the working face. This reduces the risk of loss during work and helps to increase protection and longevity.”
