Firefighters were called to reports that a fire had broken out in a barn in a West Dorset village.
Crews from Bridport Fire Station, Charmouth Fire Station and Lyme Regis Fire Station were called to a suspected barn fire near Wootton Fitzpaine.
However, upon arrival, firefighters discovered it was actually a controlled burn next to a barn.
Bridport Fire Station has subsequently issued an urgent plea to the public to warn them of planned fires.
A spokesperson said: "If you are intending on having a bonfire or controlled burn, please advise us so that we can prevent unwanted calls-outs. You can use the link provided to guide you on how to do this: https://www.dwfire.org.uk/.../safety.../controlled-burning/
"If you spot a fire and are unsure always dial #999 and ask for the fire service."
