It will be illegal under the Wildlife Management and Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024 to use certain traps to kill or take wild birds or mammals without a license.
In response to this new legislation, GWCT Advisory Services is running a series of approved training courses this autumn and early next year to help land managers and gamekeepers understand and observe current and new legislation and Best Practice.
These half-day corvid trapping and spring tunnel trapping courses will provide participants with the necessary certificate to obtain the unique license number needed to be fitted to the trap whilst in use. This is a mandatory requirement under the new law. Where you are in any doubt about compliance then attendance is essential.
