A top price of 30,000gns was achieved for Robbie Wilson's Milnbank Texel ram lamb at the Solway and Tyne breeders club's show and sale, staged at Borderway Mart, Carlisle.

Milnbank Hunter is the first crop of sons from Clanfield Golden and bred from a Cowal Bucking Bronco daughter. This was the pick for Charlie Boden of the Sportsmans flock.

A second top call of 22,000gns was paid for Duncryne Hakuna Matata from Kerr Jarvie, Dunblane. This ram is by Hexel Geronimo and out of a home-bred ewe by Rhaeadr Equilizer. Robert Cockburn of the Knap flock teamed up with Gordon and David Gray of the Ettrick flock, and Messrs Hunter, Huntly, Aberdeenshire, to buy this boy.

Three ram lambs then achieved the magical 10,000gns price tag, first to do so was Uppermill Highway Express from David McKerrow and sons, David and James, Uppermill, Ellon. A son of Clanfield Golden, he is out of an Ettrick Earthquake sired-ewe. This one was knocked down to Charlie Boden of the Sportsmans flock.

Crediting that purchase, it was Charlie Boden that sold the two other 10,000gns flyers. Firstly was Sportsmans Honor Roll, which is by Knap Grumpy and was knocked down to Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn and John Forsyth, Glenside.

The latter came in the form of the substitute lamb, Sportsmans Hitman, which was the pick of James and Ellie Amphlett, Hereford. This one is a Castlecairn Doodlebug son.

Topping the shearling trade at 12,000gns was Duhonw Golden Boys from Michael and Ella James, Builth Wells. Sired by Wilodge Ex Factor he sold in a two way split to Kirkby Stephen with Messrs Dixon and Messrs Scott.

Averages:

57 gimmers, £928.42 (+£211.65 for 34 fewer sold); eight ewe lambs, £925.31 (+£494.81 for two less); 146 shearling rams, £1728.90 (+£375.29 for seven less); 235 ram lambs, £1676.69(-£132.80 for 14 fewer).
