Thainstone Spectacular show and sale of beef calves saw a top price of £9000 for the Baillie family, Sebay Farm, Orkney.
Their home-bred February 2024-born Limousin cross heifer achieved the best price of the day near the end of the sale. Sired by Huntershall Odyssey and bred from a British Blue cross cow was knocked down to Allan and Susan Campbell, Alt Na Craik, Lochgoilhead.
The heifer was also junior haltered champion at the pre-sale show, selected by the judge Stewart Bett, Kippen who found his supreme overall in Balfour Baillie’s senior bullock which went on to sell to £3400.
Second top price was £6000 paid for the champion heifer in the 2023-born section from G and J Greenlaw, Balgairn Farms, Ballater.
