Summer finally showed face for New Deer Show, where a Suffolk ewe from Craig Paterson’s Cranorskie flock was crowned supreme champion of champions.

Overall judge, Colin Slessor, deputy head of livestock at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ Thainstone centre said: “She’s outstanding all over, correct in every way and feminine.”

Reserve sheep was a home-bred Charollais gimmer from Eilidh and Erin Duncan, Mintlaw which had been champion at Echt.

Inter-breed beef was the four-year-old Charolais cow Newlogie RoyalEclipse from AJR Farms, Ellon. Reserve champion at the Royal Highland, her dam also won the Highland in 2014.

Harry Emslie’s Limousin bull, Goldies Strongbow from just outside Mintlaw, took the reserve. This three-year-old was also breed champion at Echt.

A Highland pony from Sarah McIntosh, Peterhead, won the overall native horse honours. Roisin of Strathmore, a four-year-old mare stood ahead of the Clydesdale champion, Arradoul Capella, a seven-year-old mare from George Young, Turriff.
