Dull skies failed to dampen spirits at the Tiree Agricultural Society Show which attracted an excellent line-up of quality livestock.
The champion of champions award was presented to the home-bred British Blue heifer, Ruaig Tinkerbell, from Alastair and Iain MacInnes, Ruaig. Sired by Bluebell Connor, she is out of Stonebyres Maya.
The same home took the reserve pure-bred championship with the March-born calf Ruaig Ulva, which is also sired by Bluebell Connor.
Judge John MacCallum, Strathnafanaig, selected Colin and Hugh MacKinnon’s heifer, Westering Home, a Ewdenvale Patent daughter, as the overall cross-bred champion.
The MacKinnons also won the trophy for the most points in the crofters cattle section and also took the overall calf championship with the four-month-old British Blue cross calf, Valentine, sired by Maidenlands Marvel.
Breeding champion was Ettie MacDonald’s British Blue cross heifer Lilly, which is sired by Hunterhall Jimbo.
Lucy Kennedy, Heylipol, won the young stockpersons award with her cross-bred ewe lamb, and Callum MacKinnon won the best young handler in the sheep section.
Alastair and Iain MacInnes also took the top two awards in the sheep lines with a Texel and a Blue Texel gimmer respectively. Their champion is sired by a Collielaw tup, while their Blue Texel, Ruaig Highlife, is sired by Eyecatcher.
Lucy Kennedy also won the champion pen of cross-bred prime lambs, and Ettie MacDonald topped the Blackface sheep, with a home-bred ewe.
Angus John MacKechnie, swept the boards in the tractor classes winning with a Massey Ferguson 5712.
