Dreams came true for Martin Poyser and daughters Maisie, Molly and Hope, when a three-year-old Hereford bull from their Coxon herd from Pennan, New Aberdour, not only won the supreme beef honours but also the overall champion of champions at a busy Echt Show.

The bull, Milovaig 1Vindicator, a son of Shraden 1 Perestoika, bought privately from Callum Smith, first won the any other native championship for the 35-cow herd, before being selected supreme beef on a points basis by the various beef judges.

For the overall champion of champions, the bull was up against the supreme sheep, horse and goat winners.

Fittingly a Beltex scooped the inter-breed sheep champion honours when the breed was staging its National Show at Echt. Taking all the plaudits here was a gimmer from Alan and Ellie Miller's Lurg flock, Midmar, brought out with assistance of shepherd Finn Christie. Lurg Harvie which also bagged the breed honours at last year's National Show at Biggar, is by Vickys Gladiator and bred from Lurg Fern – the National Show winner the previous year.

Lurg also won the reserve honours amongst the Beltex with a tup lamb and took the inter-breed group of four with a quartet of home-bred sheep including the champion and reserve.

Supreme horse was the arab and ridden pony champion, Tylo Erebus, a three-year-old gelding owned by Claire Chisman, Newblyth, Turriff. Shown in hand by Tom Marshall, Erebus is sired by Claire's own Smallbland Entertainer which is a former supreme horse here and out of Rhoselena.

Maureen Ross' Boer goat, Balmedie Ivy, a former Scottish Dairy Goat and Highland Show champion, topped the dairy, pygmy and milking goats to win the supreme goat honours. She is sired by Caistelaic Eddie.
