The Scots certainly made their mark among the inter-breeds at the Great Yorkshire Show.

The first inter-breed to take place at the Great Yorkshire Show was the beef supreme, which was won by the Limousin heifer, Maraiscote Tangerine, from Lanarkshire breeders, Ian and Andrew Nimmo, Bogside, Newmains.

This reserve inter-breed from the Highland Show went one better here, being sired by Morhan Peter, and out of Maraiscote Orange, this April 2022 born heifer was paraded in calf to the French sire, Djerk.

The Charolais cow and calf outfit from the Corbett family, Powys, Wales, got drawn in second. This 2019 born cow, Teme Poshtotty, is sired by Barnsford Ferny, and was shown with her heifer November born calf, Teme Uptown Girl.

The scots continued on their winning ways among the dairy lines, when Jonny Lochhead, Mouswald, Dumfries, tapped out his supreme to the Ayrshire from John Adamson, Swaites, Lanark.

His supreme was the fifth calver, Swaites Bracken 19, which stood reserve champion at the Highland. Sired by West Mossgiel Modern Reality, she is out of Swaites Bracken 14 and calved in March. She was paraded giving 65 litres per day.

Taking the blue and white sash was the Holstein, Clydeview Sidekick Matilda from for Salvy Esquierdo and Robbie and Margo Scott. This second calver, bred by Ewan and Emma Kennedy, is a daughter of Walnutlawn Sidekick. She calved in January, is giving 50litres per day.

Among the sheep lines, it was the Kerry Hill that got the winning tap out for Chris Adamson, Littleborough, Lancs. This home-bred gimmer is by Whitfield Bombastic, out of a home-bred ewe. She was champion at the Highland Show.

Dumfriesshire breeders, Ali and Hannah Jackson, Maulscastle, took the runner up title with their Suffolk gimmer, which was bought privatively from Jed Sharp's Sharps flock.
