It was McEwan Farms that took the honours on the Asda stand at the Highland Show steak competition in association with ABP. The farm secured the top prize with their steak from a 26 month Aberdeen Angus cross heifer weighing 351kg and graded at R4L.
Judged equally between all farmers taking part, each steak was scored on it’s raw physical appearance, cooked taste, texture and succulence. With each farmer rating each entry out of ten for every asset with the steak scoring the most points winning.
Second place went to Austin Hoggan for his 26 month Aberdeen Angus cross steer weighing in at 364.40kg and graded at R3. Robert Robb secured third for an Aberdeen Angus steer, 18 months graded R4 and weighing 357kg.
