Inter-breed sheep pairs judge, Clark Lamont had a busy morning judging more than 25 breed pairs at Ingliston and eventually found his supreme in a Blackface duo from the Ramsay family, Milnmark, Dalry, with the reserve honours presented to the traditional Blueface Leicester pair.
Making up the top team was the champion Blackface, a gimmer by a £30,000 Elmscleugh ram, and the male champion, a £32,000 Midlock shearling ram bought last year in partnership with Danny Hair, Drumbreddan.
The Bluefaced Leicester duo comprised the champion, an aged ram from Alan McClymont and sons Sam and Oli, Kirkstead, and the female champion, a home-bred one-crop ewe from Sophie Harding, Shrewbridge, Shrewsbury.
