Avondale Young Farmers' Club is marking a remarkable milestone this year, celebrating its 80th anniversary. To commemorate this significant achievement, the club has embarked on a year-long fundraising campaign to support Kilbryde Hospice, a vital organisation dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with progressive, life-limiting illnesses.

To launch their fundraising efforts, club members Caroline and Sylvia, both former members, are taking on an inspiring challenge. They will embark on an 80-mile cycle ride in June, matching the club's 80 years of history. This ambitious ride is scheduled for Saturday, June 29, covering the scenic routes around the Strathaven area and culminating at a Fun Day event at Bents Farm, Chapelton.

The Fun Day promises to be a delightful occasion for families and the local community. Starting at 3pm, the event will feature a variety of activities designed to entertain attendees of all ages. Highlights include a BBQ, a traditional ceilidh, and a lively disco, ensuring a fun-filled day for everyone.

In addition to the cycle ride, Avondale YFC has planned several events throughout the year to continue their fundraising efforts. These include a variety concert in October, a drama festival, and a grand Dinner Dance scheduled for February 2025. Each event aims to bring the community together in celebration while raising essential funds for Kilbryde Hospice.
