Scottish property consultancy Galbraith has strengthened its team of professionals in Dumfries and Galloway with two new appointments.
The firm’s commitment to the Dumfries and Galloway region sees Mike Halliday join the team as a land agent and agricultural consultant. Mike joins Galbraith at the associate level having been a rural consultant for nearly a decade and latterly working at Youngs RPS on various projects including farm sales, landlord / tenant negotiations, utility claims, and Basic Payment Entitlement applications.
Mike’s background is in livestock farming, having been born and brought up on a family farm with dairy, beef, and sheep enterprises. He studied agriculture at Aberdeen University before working on a dairy farm in New Zealand for nine months and then returned home to run the family dairy business for 15 years. Mike is a Fellow of the CAAV and an FBAASS-accredited advisor.
Mike Halliday said: “I am delighted to be joining Galbraith and advising clients on a wealth of agricultural and land management issues as well as assisting with rural property valuation work. Having been immersed in the agricultural industry all my life, there’s never been a more interesting time in the industry with the challenge for farmers and landowners to not only meet Scottish Government targets for transition to net zero and the biodiversity crisis but also to provide food and renewable energy for an expanding population.”
Partner and head of residential sales and lettings for Galbraith, David Corrie, based in Castle Douglas, said: “Mike brings with him a wealth of experience in the agricultural industry and is a well-known name within the region. It’s an interesting time in the rural sector with the Land Reform Bill due to be introduced this year. Mike joining our team of rural experts further strengthens our services.”
Susan Peacock also joins the firm as PA to the Rural Team in the firm’s Castle Douglas office. Susan moved with Mike, she has provided outstanding rural property administration during her career and brings a vast understanding of the systems and processes that land agents and their clients use every day.
The firm’s rural teams across the country specialise in helping clients with estate, farm, and forestry assets. From its 13 offices across Scotland and Northern England, Galbraith manages and provides advice on farm, forestry, land, and estate interests totalling over 3.5 million acres.
