The closure of the A90 following storm Babet cut the milk supply to shops in the North East of Scotland at the start of the week.
Across Aberdeen and the Shire supermarkets and retailers suffered from empty shelves as distribution lorries were unable to get north due to damaged roads.
Many large retailers had empty shelves as deliveries of staple foods such as bread, fresh fruit, and vegetables were stuck in the central belt. As of Tuesday morning lorries are starting to travel on the A90 and restock shelves.
Local farmers pointed out that the milk shortage could have been avoided if there was still an Aberdeen creamery.
The Muller-owned processing facility was shut in 2016 and at the time was critical to the North East milk pool which significantly contracted following the closure.
Today a small but resilient number of dairies remain in the area.
