Tarbolton Farmers Society's annual agricultural show took place on Saturday, September 30th, despite adverse weather conditions that led to the unfortunate cancellation of the horse and pony events.
Nevertheless, the show persevered, showcasing cattle, roots, and vintage machinery with its customary enthusiasm. A standout moment was the victory of the famous Dawson in the roots section, ultimately earning the prestigious Meikle Silver Challenge Trophy for the overall show.
In the beef category, John and Louise Hunter claimed the champion beef animal title, securing the Roughdyke Salver. The cattle section saw R&M Scott from Shacklehill emerge as the Holstein champion, while Mungo Bryson of Whiteflat Farm in Catrine reigned supreme in the Red & Whites category. Mungo's triumph extended to the coveted overall champion of champions title with his cow, Whiteflat Jordy Lizzie.
This remarkable cow's winning streak includes various accolades, cementing her status as a remarkable all-around bovine. The vintage section featured an impressive turnout of vintage tractors, with David and John Neil showcasing five tractors and Grandson Harry Philp clinching the Robert Stevenson Trophy with the Ford 7610. The event concluded with the pets class and children's races, adding a lighthearted touch to an eventful day.
