John Harvie and Alastair Grey following a 3000-metre swim in Loch Lomond to raise money for the Royal Highland Educational Trust Clyde. John said: “Luckily the Loch was like a millpond so our route around the buoys in the water was not too bad.”
The two swimmers were joined by Jan Robertson and Kirsty Craig who each did the 1500-metre route. Whilst youngsters Murray Callan aged 14 and Eva Callan aged 18 completed a 750-metre route in the pair’s first open swimming event.
John and Alastair are next swimming in an event at Loch Morloch on 16 September, having already completed a stormy swim in Loch Tay. Anyone wishing to support this intrepid bunch of fundraisers can donate at www.justgiving.com/rhetclyde with John adding: “Any other mad souls keen to help raise funds and join the swim are most welcome too.”
