HAVING reached what was originally viewed as an “unachievable” target of 100 vehicles, Pickups for Peace are set to deliver their 200th 4x4 to Ukraine next month.
Dr Keith Dawson (pictured) of the Central Plains Group and a co-founder of the initiative which helps frontline troops and humanitarian missions in the war in Ukraine said he had been blown away by the generosity of farmers and growers across the country who had contributed vehicles and helped deliver them.
Speaking about the charity at last week’s Potatoes in Practice event he said: “The troops and ambulance services in Ukraine are immensely grateful for these key vehicles - but we need to remember that they are, in reality fighting not just for their own country but for each and every one of us.”
