BBC presenter Sara Cox has said that it was “an absolute honour” to judge at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.
The BBC presenter known for her shows on drivetime on BBC Radio 2 was a surprise judge for this year’s show, who with dad Len, were picked to judge the Interbreed Beef Young Handler competition which took place yesterday (Wednesday, July 26).
In a post on social media, she said: “Ahhh what a day. So special. Thanks for having me @royalwelshshow - an absolute honour.”
Renowned for her work on the airwaves with the BBC and as a television presenter, the 48-year-old mum-of-three is also a huge advocate of agriculture, having grown up on a farm near Bolton.
When it was announced that she would be a judge at this year’s competition Sara said it would allow her to go “back to my farming roots”.
She added that it was a “dream come true to be back in the ring with dad and my bro, spent all my childhood summers showing Herefords/getting under dad's feet.”
Sara isn’t the only famous face to appear at his year’s show, last year’s grand national winning jockey Sam Waley-Cohen was due to be guest judging today (Thursday, July 27) in the Supreme Horse Championship described as “the pinnacle of Show Week at the Royal Welsh”.
Other famous faces to appear this week include Welsh singing superstar Charlotte Church who attended on Tuesday (July 25) and hosted sound meditation and silent disco sessions.
Meanwhile, the likes of reality TV star Joey Essex have been DJ-ing in the Builth Wells pub, The White Horse.
