TODAY, we will find out who will be Scotland’s next first minister and leader of the SNP.
Humza Yousaf, Kate Forbes and Ash Regan have been campaigning for weeks now, vying to succeed Nicola Sturgeon and bring in a new era in Scottish politics.
Here is everything you need to know about what to expect and how to follow today’s announcement.
When will the next leader of the SNP be announced?
Voting for the position closed at 12pm today. The national secretary, Lorna Finn, will make the results of the leadership contest public as soon as the result has been determined and after all three candidates have been advised.
The announcement itself will take place at Murrayfield at 2pm.
Sturgeon's successor as first minister will then be officially elected at Holyrood on Tuesday and sworn in at the Court of Session the following day.
How can I watch the announcement live?
Anyone wishing to watch the result being announced should head over to the SNP’s Facebook, YouTube or Twitter channel where a livestream will be available at the beginning of the event.
All major broadcasters should be covering the announcement as well.
