A popular running event will make a welcome return later this year.
Organisers of annual farming fair The Neilston Show have announced that entries are now open for the Pad Race, which will be held on May 6.
The race enjoyed a comeback in 2022 after a two-year hiatus caused by the Covid pandemic.
Like previous events, this year’s 4.5-mile course will have a little bit of everything – roads, paths, trails and a splattering of mud.
The run starts from the Neilston Show Field at 10am on the day and will circle the iconic Neilston Pad.
Organisers have described it as “primarily a trail race featuring a decent climb, with a short linking section on public roads.”
An online post added: “Runners of all ability are welcome. It’s a race for some and a run for others.
“We plan to use the usual route, though this may be changed if forestry work is being carried out.
“Entry to Neilston Show is included, so why not make a day of it and enjoy the show once you pass the finish line?”
Basic changing facilities will be available for runners and bags can be left in the race tent, although it is advised not to leave anything valuable.
Parts of the course will be muddy, so those taking part are strongly advised to wear off-road shoes.
Entrants for the run must be aged 16 or over.
Online entry, which closes at midnight on Thursday, May 4, costs £10, plus a service fee.
On the day entry will be £12, which includes admission to the show field.
No refunds will be given unless the race is cancelled.
