ORGANIC growers in Scotland can attend upcoming spring events hosted as part of the Scottish Organic Cereals Network.
On February 22, there will be an on-farm meeting at Mungoswells, in East Lothian, hosted by Angus McDowall, who has been farming organic and non-organic crops for several decades in a organic cropping rotation.
The farm grows wheat and spelt for flour processing in the on-farm mill, and these specialist flours are branded, marketed and sold for cake and bread making. Growers will have lunch, a tour of the mill and maltings, and plenty of time for networking.
On March 1, 2023, Yara/Lancrop specialists Jonathan Telfer and Hannah Shirt will be leading a webinar on priorities for spring soil sampling. This online meeting will look at the key aims for soil status for spring crops in an organic rotation.

The Scottish Organic Cereals Network is run by AHDB Scotland and Scottish Organic Producers Association. Attendance is free and all organic growers in Scotland are welcome to attend and take advantage of the knowledge, expertise and peer-to-peer networking, but registration is essential for both events.
