We all connect Burns with Ayrshire, but his father, William Burnes came from this farm, Clochnahill, near Stonehaven, where the main picture shows 'land improvement' being spread.

There's also a memorial to our national bard, Robert Burns on the farm and the words on the memorial read as follows:

This memorial cairn overlooks Clochnahill Farm, from which between 1740 to 1750 Willian Burnes, the father of Scotland's national poet left for Edinburgh and then Ayrshire.

Erected by Wm Coull Anderson esq, Flordia, USA, a family descendant in 1968.

NB: Burnes was the family spelling at that time, later shortened to Burns.
