Young sheep farmers seeking insights into pedigree sheep breeding are being offered funding to attend the biennial Sheep Breeders Round Table taking place this November.

The National Sheep Association has opened applications for the next generation of sheep farmers to apply to join key names and other industry representatives at the three-day event dedicated to the latest thinking on sheep genetics.

The NSA Next Generation programme is this year offering to fund one enthusiastic young sheep farmer to attend the conference, while the NSA South East and NSA South West Regions are also each offering to fund 50% of two places at the conference.

NSA communications manager Katie James said: “Attendance at SBRT can provide young farmers who have an interest in developing their sheep flock or career as a shepherd with the perfect opportunity to hear from some of the country’s leading experts on a range of research topics. It is also an excellent networking event with chance to speak informally with some well-known names from the world of sheep breeding research and fellow pedigree enthusiasts.”

The fully funded and part funded places offered will include the full three days of the conference as well as accommodation and meals at the event this year held from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 November 2022, at The Raddison Blu Hotel, Pegasus Business Park, East Midlands Airport.

Mrs James continued: “This event is well suited to young sheep producers with a keen interest in pedigree breeding and research. We look forward to receiving applications from sheep farmers aged 18 to 35 who believe attendance at the conference could truly benefit them at this time.”

Young sheep farmers who would like to apply for the funded place should visit the NSA Next Generation website. Applications close at 5pm on Friday 21 October.
