One of the UK’s largest farmers, Sir James Dyson, has recorded rising profits in 2021.
According to Dyson Farming Ltd's published accounts, the company's turnover rose from £30.2m to £35.5m, with pre-tax profits up from £2.2m to £2.8m.
The poorer results in 2020 were blamed by the company on extreme weather conditions which added costs and cut income.
The 35,000-acre business has land in Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, and Gloucestershire. Alongside conventional farming, the company accounts state that sustainable energy generation is utilised for glasshouse operations.
The business tycoon, famed for his vacuum cleaners and room fans, started buying significant areas of land in 2003 with the purchase of Doddington estate in Gloucestershire.
The Norfolk-born 75-year-old is reported as the second wealthiest person in the UK, with a net worth of £23bn, according to The Sunday Times 2022 Rich List.
