This year’s Royal Highland Show is a key showcase for sustainable food and farming, according to independent rural consultancy, Galbraith.

Galbraith is a sponsor of the Show and also sponsors the Sustainable Farm of the Year category of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust’s Scotland Food & Farming Sustainability Awards, due to be presented on June 24.

Emma Chalmers of Galbraith, a member of the judging panel for the awards, will be on hand to celebrate with the winners, alongside Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Mairi Gougeon.

Alistair Christie of Galbraith, whose family farm near Balfron, will be showing a yearling Clydesdale filly in the Clydesdale Classes. His family has shown Clydesdales for many years at the RHS, with two previous successes including being crowned overall show champion in 1997.

Mr Christie said: “The Royal Highland Show is a superb showcase for Scotland’s farming and rural communities. Agricultural business leaders have proven to be incredibly adaptable to all the challenges they face at the moment and we should be proud of the exceptionally high quality meat, dairy and crops we produce in Scotland. Scottish farming meets the needs of a growing population for healthy food, while using the land sustainably.”

Galbraith will welcome members of the Edinburgh Rugby team to its stand on Saturday and Sunday, joining in with games and meeting members of the public, and the 1872 Cup will be on the Galbraith stand on Saturday.

The Galbraith rural, forestry, farm sales, AMC and natural capital teams will be on hand to offer advice throughout the four days of the show – visit Galbraith on Avenue O behind the main grandstand. Ready to plant cell-grown trees from Alba Trees will be given away to the first 50 visitors.
