Craig Walker cutting a huge crop of grass for silage for the 950 dry cows at Glenapp this winter. Progress was slowed mid May with poor weather, but the team grabbed every opportunity to pit some quality silage for milking cows and youngstock.
Grass growth has continued to be exceptional, boosting the farm's rye grass and clover mixtures including varieties Aberchoice , Abergain, Astonenergy and Aberswan. Glenapp’s head tractorman, Rab McDowall, has been busy, having chopped 1000 acres so far this season. He is pleased with regrowths and commented: “It won’t be long until second cut starts !”
