British farmers and equestrian enthusiasts have been helping supply refugee camps on the Ukraine borders with donations gathered from across the UK.
Having sent several articulated lorries full of donations, the Just Giving page set up by the Louenna Hood childcare business has already reached over £100,000 and is still open to donations, with various other Scottish and British haulage companies set to do the same.
The transport of the donations has been handled by haulier Philip Judge and his team, with the two further loads already in process.
“The British have got here and fast because they need it, we have done it together with unity and solidarity," said Mr Judge. "I would never want to think any of my kids would suffer war and no child should ever be cold or hungry at night. We are only a small part to the puzzle."
Mr Judge took on the journey with Nigel Oliver, which consisted of a 54 hour-round trip with a six-wheeler, drag and a 20ft box full of donations. The duo took on 21 hours straight to enable the goods to get to those in need as soon as possible.
“The trip has been worth every second just to see how grateful the people in these refugee camps were, the day we were there 80 children under the age of one were being evacuated to allow their parents to go back and fight for their land – so our donations of clothes, blankets, medicine and food from farms has gone a long way,” added Philip, who usually hauls hay and straw.
"We call upon the British Government to allow more Ukrainian people into the UK, they need somewhere to go urgently, and we need their hard work in this country desperately," he added.
